Researchers from the Catchment to Coast planning team are designing a regional conservation and development plan for the Daly catchment in the Northern Territory. The plan aims to define which areas are most important to people, what they like to do there and how important the catchment is to people’s livelihoods. As part of the planning process the Vanessa Adams ran a series of forums and also conducted a survey of households in the Daly Catchment. Over 200 responses were received and the results will help inform the plan by identifying residents’ satisfaction with different possible changes such as land clearing and water extraction. The survey also provides important feedback on what is most important to residents in their daily life in the catchment and their top concerns associated with these factors. Important outcomes from this survey were recently featured on the ABC northern territory news. To watch what Vanessa had to say visit the ABC Northern Development feature page.
